Powder Camp

Our Powder Camp is a great way to develop your skills in ungroomed terrain in a safe and enjoyable manner. It bridges the gap between lessons and guiding, where your coach will help you improve your overall ability in this environment.

Ability Check:
Ski Levels:
- First Timer – I have never skied before
- Beginner – I have skied before and can stop. I’m able to perform a confident snowplough/wedge that controls my speed. I’m starting to perform turns on a beginner slope.
- Novice – I can link snowplough/wedge turns on a green slope. I’m starting to perform parallel turns on green slopes
- Intermediate – I am parallel on green slopes and perform a mix of snowplough/wedge and parallel turns down red slopes.
- Advanced – I am completely parallel on green/red slopes and almost parallel on black slopes. I am starting to ski off piste/powder/bumps.
- Expert – I am parallel on all slopes and can ski off piste / powder / bumps / trees. I can ski anywhere on the mountain.
Snowboard Levels:
- First Timer – I have never snowboarded before.
- Beginner – I can perform toeside and heelside falling leaf.
- Novice – I am performing basic toeside and heelside turns on green slopes. I’m able to link some of these turns.
- Intermediate – I am linking turns confidently on green slopes. I have ridden some red slopes.
- Advanced – I am confidently linking turns on red slopes. I have ridden some black slopes and have started to ride some off piste / powder / terrain park.
- Expert – I am confident riding off piste / powder / bumps / trees. I can snowboard anywhere on the mountain. I can ride switch.
FAQ First timers
How long are the lessons? What does the lesson include?
We offer either a full day (7 Hours) or half day lesson (3 Hours). One of our friendly instructors will meet you on snow or at your accommodation at the start of your allocated time. For a full day lesson it is expected that there is a break at some point for lunch.
Where do we meet for lessons?
All our lessons start at either .Base Hirafu or beside Annupuri Gondola.
What lift pass do I need?
- If you are a complete beginner (first timer) we recommend NOT buying a lift pass initially. During the lesson you will likely buy a local area lift pass or a points pass
- If you are a novice skieer we recommend buying the local area pass (Hirafu/Hanazono pass or Annupuri pass depending on start location).
- If you are intermediate/advanced we recommend the full area Niseko United lift pass.
What do I need to bring for a lesson?
We anticipate you arriving with all the gear necessary to go out on snow, including:
- Skis or Snowboard
- Boots
- Ski Jacket and Pants
- Goggles or sunglasses
